TankFest 2017

Post by Stephen White »

An excellent two days at Bovington, with the launch of the Elephant, 30 plus models running and a lot of interest from the public. More photos to follow but here are a couple of headliners.

If the devil cast his net  Now that's what real characters look like.....I would love to see 'names' put to all these faces......I always picture how a person looks before meeting them, or talking to them on the telephone.....just inquisitive.... Would love to have been there at Tankfest....keep posting the photos, most enjoyable...Mick

I'm in the group shot, but I'm not going to identify myself because I'm very shy ...

A great weekend. Thanks to Stephen for organising it, and Kian, Monique, Mark, Gill and Chris for putting it on (and doing the traditional ice cream run on Sunday afternoon). Hot, dusty and, with all the exhaust smoke drifting across from the Tank Park, certainly not one for the environmentalists. But the camaraderie, and the chance to show off our models, is why we do it. The more the merrier.

And Kian and Monique seemed to survive their first dive into the wild, wacky world of we Armortek junkies .... I wonder how they feel today ? :)

A tired, but satisfied,

Chris

Check this one out, I won't mention who the driver was as he is shy, but the owner is seen lying on the ground doing some close up videoing and taking his life in his hands with the encroaching Cent !!! I would like to thank everybody at the show for a brilliant time, especially to Monique and Kean for their hospitality and the ice creams, also to Stephen for the organisation. Great on Sunday with the extra running area, I think that was the most running we have ever done at the show.

Saturday's line up.

That Centurion again.

Dennis.

A great two days, nice to meet Monique and Kean and of course run my tank around as frequently as possible. Much better weather this year made the Sunday ice creams all the more welcome. I will post some of the pictures I took when I sort them out from the real tanks :-)

Re: TankFest 2017 - the WW1 dimension

This year's Tankfest was Heaven on Earth for the dedicated fans of WW1 armour:
Armortek's Finest, with the ultimate background !
Armortek's Finest, with the ultimate background !
And a couple of videos of the Real Thing (well, in the case of the Mark IV and A7V, almost )

(the St. Chamond - a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity)

(mostly the Mark IV and A7V)
