I know this subject has been aired in the past on these pages , but i cannot find the thread. Was it possibly on the old site ?
Anyway , i would like to ask the question of those that know , what is the best adhesive for securing the tyres to the alloy wheels .
Iv e looked on the web , and it does seem to be a minefeild out there !

When I was bonding acetol tyres to the aluminium wheels it was recommended by Loctite to use primer 770, the acetol tyres have still to be proved in action.

David,

I'm the same as Lee, I have found that Loctite 480 is the best for this job.

Hi David:

I have a alternative adhesive - the one I used - It's an excellent bonding agent for rubber to aluminum or anything, and easy to use, the only drawback is once on you may never get the rubber back off, it is permanent!

It's called IC-2000 - 1 oz is about $8.00 USD and plenty enough for all your wheels (use sparingly). You have 20-45 seconds to position then all is secure! It is a cyanoacrylate and works fast - most hobby stores carry it.

thanks for all the replies . It has also been suggested, but not proved that aliphatic pva would also work .

I used double sided Sellotape,it is the same width as the rim wind it round till it meets ,cut with a sharp blade, slip on the tyre job done .So far mine have never come off.

Hi Guys
After having plenty of failures with using Araldite, I've took Jo's advice and gone with IC2000. No failures yet. They are well stuck. Also Stinch's 1/6th build was also using the IC2000.
Thanks again Jo.
Have a good weekend
Richie
