Running gear noise as an option/addition

Now I can appreciate that the new owners are up to their eyes in it, and have lots to think about at present, a suggestion .... so that Armortek can stay way ahead of the competition, may we have the option of the running gear noise accessible in future sound modules, it would greatly enhance the motion/sound option,. It could be added to the sound card as standard or better still an optional extra ( this running gear option is being used in Europe right now).

Just listen to the old girl on the concrete, maybe we could have "select surface conditions sounds"
like mud, metalled road and grass?

Just a thought on this beautiful summers morning :D :D

Phil.

As a relatively new user I'm just starting to appreciate how complicated and subjective this stuff gets.

I got some new sounds recently and the replacement main gun sound has echo on it. I wonder, like surface conditions, if this is best left to happen in the real world?

FWIW I've given up trying to simulate gear changes. I couldn't manage to drive the tank in a way that matched the real tank to the engine revs etc either sounded crazy or were too delayed. I've now just got eight samples (four different rev settings times two different load settings) that I mix between depending on rev and load.

I've some additional engine/gearbox sounds but not sure when/how to play them in. Spike in revs or load?

Cheers

Sam

I've noticed this on a few of the engine sounds as well, as they've been recorded when running inside museums.

In my opinion, most models seem to have enough rattles and squeaks to sound convincing, without having to add to the load on the sound card.

I run my engine sounds from a different stick to the motors, so that it is possible to move the tank at idle revs, or rev the engine whilst moving at slow speed over an obstacle.

Adrian.

The Phil Wollard recording sounds good, especially the squeaks previously mentioned.

The computer games people do just as Adrian suggests:

Apparently a sound engineer took the opportunity to record the 131 when Fury was being recorded. I did wonder about trying to get hold of them but no idea where to start. Also they would be in a very raw state so hard to turn into a format easy to use.

This discussion has made me decide to definitely get rid of the echo sound effects. Probably great for games but doesn't work for these models.
