Setting up a tank "stand" at work

Hello,

I've, perhaps foolishly, volunteered to setup a stand for our work "hobbies" event run by the union.

Any advice on what people are actually interested in? The people here run a particle accelerator for a day job so they won't be impressed with my electronics.

I was thinking of setting up my "work in progress" Tiger 1 with top off, collection of bits yet to go on, Armortek video running on a screen?

Cheers

Sam

Sam -

I used to work at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory near Didcot (now part of the Science & Technology Research Council), so I know all about Particle Accelerator, Neutron Spallation, Synchrotron and Laser types ....

They're basically engineers, and mostly geeks and nerds who are uncomfortable with Real Life (don't tell them I said that !). Therefore, they should be very interested in how it all goes together, and the quality of the parts. They'll be interested in the instruction book (technical drawings) too. And they will certainly be interested in the electricals - you may even get some useful tips off them. A backdrop of build pictures, and some Armortek references to other models and builds should go down well.

Whether it's a Tiger 1 or a washing machine will probably go completely over their heads .....

Good luck ! Any chance to show off our toys is a chance worth grabbing !

All the best,

Chris

Thanks Chris,

I'm at Diamond Light Source on the RAL campus.

Thanks for the encouraging words.

Cheers

Hello all,

Reporting back! It went really well even though I was in meetings most of the day.

I was surprised at the big smiles when people drive it and fire the gun!

The only bit I didn't like was the "how much did it cost?" question.

Cheers

Sam
