Comet Encoder Setup

Hi all, I have got my new Comet setup now and all is working as i wanted except for the sound.

Steve had it setup with a toggle switch (Mode2) switch and it did play sounds when we tested it yesterday.
I have a Spektrum DX9 which has a Benedini Encoder setup (Mode 3) & working on Aux3.
I know the encoder works as it works with my Panther.
I tested the Encoder setup using a servo and the servo moves correctly with each rotary change when the switch is toggled.

I have opened up the Armortek sound module which contains a TBS Mini and i set it to encoder mode so it beeps 3 times. The Control lead is plugged into the Aux3 channel of the AR8000 Receiver.
The problem is that i cannot get any sound from it whilst setting up the initial and full speed points and have not been able to get any sounds played at all (vol control set at about 1/3).

I am sure ive missed something but no idea what.
Hoping that Adrian or some other Benedini expert can help me out.

Cheers
Tim

The bit I normally get wrong with the TBS Mini is that you press the button on the Mini board to set the neutral positions but you have to click the encoder switch on the transmitter to set the acceleration and full speed positions.

Tim, as Adrian says, you set the neutral with the button on the sound card and accelerate and full speed positions with the encoder toggle switch. I'm a bit puzzled though. I believe the TBS Mini should make one bleep to confirm encoder mode. Have a look at my Knowledge Base Topic here:

All the best.

Thanks for getting back to me guys.
Adrian; I thought that is what i was doing but will retry once more.

Stephen; I have been looking at your KB article.
Now, when i turn it on it beeps just once. I think it does that for all 3 modes once setup is complete.
I get 3 beeps when i set it to Encoder mode during initial setup.
One beep is 'Auto'.
Two beeps is 'Toggle'.
Three beeps is 'Encoder'.

...Back into the garage for one final try before bed.

Cheers
Tim

Not sure that i did anything different this time but it worked and i now have a full set of sounds.
Will reassemble everything tomorrow night and then i can start looking at the fun stuff like fitting an led flash for the mg and a servo to move the besa.

Anyway, thanks guys.

Cheers
Tim
