Well now its finished! although the photos do highlight some areas where the paint coverage may need a bit of weathering. This is a step that concerns me when you have spent a great deal of time finishing a model to then intentionally age and damage it. This is where the forum is great as there are many pointers when it comes to final details and finishes.

The kit was a wonderful build with plenty of scope for detailing, whether this is the fine Armorpax kit or your own details such as the wheel rim details or safety chain. One thing I have learnt is that there is always time for that extra little detail.

I now need is to find a camo net to put on the top, complete some straps and to complete the 25 pounder before ordering the quad to complete the set.

My C8 is still in boxes which I will tackle in the second half of the year when I get back home. A mate of mine is building my 25 pdr and doing an awesome job. Soooo frustrating not being able to build it when I see all the good work on here.

Hi Sean,

Looks very good and includes the Armorpax kit, which adds that extra detail. Really good paint job and finish, do you intend to weather it upon completion?

Below are a few pictures of mine as it stands at present, with the carriage being approx. 80% complete, gun shield 50% complete with the remaining barrel, slide and sighting/controls are mainly out of the box so far. Many evenings and weekends to go.

Excellent work chaps on your builds on the wee 25pdr.

Hope some day to return to finish off my on 25pdr and to make a start on my M Quad 8.
Later on this year once my chemo treatment is over!

Following your lead, I am now the proud owner of a C8 kit, but had to promise to complete the 25pdr before starting the Quad. However as the weather is not suitable for spraying, I could not resist mocking up the rolling chassis of the Quad, which is very impressive with the leaf spring suspension. It does take up a lot of my living room table where I build the kits.

What else would you put in a living room lucky your not building a centurion.. at 120kg the table might not be up to it.

It will be 5 months ish until I start my C8

Your build and pictures are fantastic.

I see that you have also addressed the rather 'large' fender brackets. With smaller nuts/bolts? I had the same reaction to the rear brackets. I was starting to turn the screws around (and already machined them to a smaller head-size). But see you used a more fitting nut/bolt?

What did you use and where did you source? I expect one of the model engineering companies? But here in the USA, some of this stuff is not as easy to come by. Of course, I could use some micro-metric screws.

Anyway, can you go into some of the fasteners you used?

I get all my small bolts, nuts ,washers, rivets, and round heads (slot and plain) from BA-Bolts.co.uk. If you scroll down through the FAQ section there is a table that provides details of diameter and across the flats dimensions, which is very useful. I believe I used a BA10 plain round head bolt and nut.

I actually found a US supplier who has suitable stuff. As much as I would like the BA, I lucked out finding some 1-72's and some 2 -56's, etc. Different thread pitch, but function will be the same. Next time I am in the UK, I'll get a big order of the 10-ba through 4-ba. The little stuff... and carry it home!
