Super nice job on both. My hat's off to both of you.

Jeff, great detailing, zimmerit and camo job on your Tiger. looks great.

Derek, your deck detailing has me all fired up to dive in and finally complete mine! Thanks for the kick I needed. :lol:

BTW, your muzzle break looks spectacular. Not to mention every other part of your Panther.

Really enjoyed your tiger gallery photos. Your paint job is first rate, and the zimmerit execution is excellent! I was hoping there was a thread already commenting on it - I just now found it! Thanks for adding your photos to the gallery!

Many thanks for the interest in the gallery photos of my Tiger .As they say here is the story.My Tiger was one of the first batch produced by Armortek and took three years to complete.The zimmerite finish was made using car body repair filler applied on the coldist day of the year to allow reasonable working time before it hardened.I made the comb out of 30thou plastic card, the number of teeth matched the number of ridges on a close up Tiger photo.The rear turret stowage bin was the Armortek item reworked with dress maker pins for rivet detail ,remade lids and hinges.Other Armortek items used were the front and rear mud guards revamped with 10BA countersunk screws and again dress maker pins for rivet detail.The jack was a bit of a problem as I did not have a clear photo of what it should look like.When I finally saw a 15 ton jack I realised I got the winding handle and ratchet wrong.Well there you go.The C tow shackles were filed to the correct shape and detail added to the front headlight.Toolclamps,fire extinguisher,cable and jack clamps,pioneer tools,engine grill mesh and the jack block were all made with 10,15,20thou shim steel and various lenths of mild steel and aluminuim stock.I only used two after market items ,both by ARMORPAX the drivers and radioman hatch periscopes and boltcutters with reworked handles.Three attemps were made to construct the wheelsets but was not happy with the result.My good friend Derek Congram ,who is building a Tiger,had a new set of double inner road machined from stock.These had prototype flanges that fit between the track guide horns.He was not happy with them and passed them onto me. I added the flange bolt detail and fitted a treat,I was over the moon!He sinse had a new set made which he is now happy with. The tyres held on with double sided Sellotape.The tape is the same width as the wheel rim,wind it round,cut with a sharpe blade were it meets,slip on the tyre hey presto job done.I had the track pins chromium plated after I noticed that they were going rusty.I threaded the ends of the the pins 3M and machined 3M nuts to make collars held on with Locktite.This would later come back and haunt me as I found that when I run the tank the track rode over the sprocket.With the tracks off I found the plating made the pins tight in several links causing them to bind with there neighbour.I had a devil of a job removing the pins and sorting the links around,things are okay now.I have noted on various forums that builders have experience this problem of track riding off the sprocket,maybe there tracks were binding like mine causing the problem.The paint finish is RAL Olivgelb made into airosols by a local paint factor.This colour is nearly the same shade of Tamiya's dark yellow XF60 and sprayed over an undercoat of U-Pol acid etch primer.An airbrush was used to spray the camo pattern using Tamiya XF64 red brown,XF61 nato green.For weathering I used Humbrol light earth.
