Just got my panzer 111 running and have noticed the high efficiency gear boxes make
Quite a lot of noise ,more in one direction than the other. I have done a search on the forum and found this is normal
And They should quieten down with use , has anyone noticed the gearboxes get quieter
With use

Re: High efficiency gearboxes noise
Hey David! I've just about finished detailing my Panzer IV and I've taken it out a few times to see how it drives. I've have also noticed that interment drive gear 'WHINE'. I PACKED those bell housings with grease so it may be the gears wearing in...
My Tiger 1 and Panther doesn't have that gear noise and I've been a little concerned that I 'may' have missed something while assembling the final drive gears.
The squeal is VERY distracting. I figured (HOPED!!) it may decrease after 'breaking in'. I'll keep checking your question to hear what the 'veteran' builders have to say.
THANKS for addressing it!
