Hi guys,
Got 2 VTX 40 24 controllers in 11 year old My Tiger 1.
Having had a fault with one of them, I have bought a new one. Upon fitting I have noticed that it's maximum speed is considerably less than the one in my Tiger that is still functioning ok. I have adjusted the speed to max on the circuit board. Anyone else found this problem? It's max speed is probably 3/4 that of the existing one.
Thought I would ask the Forum before going back to 4QD.
Regards
Duncan

Duncan - it might be worth looking in the Futaba manual and altering the relevant channel end points to balance up.

Hi Peter,
Thanks, will give that a go and let you know I get on. I am planning to go tanking on Sunday.
Regards,
Duncan.

Hello Duncan, may I ask where you got your 4qd vtx 24 series controller from? Do you have there web site?
I recently had a short and plew the 40 amp fuse, replace the fuse and now the right motor does not work. did some re wiring and found that the motor is ok....thank god. I may be looking to replace the speed controller also but don't know where to get one...

Tom- try contacting 4QD themselves since they don't seem to deal with retailers. They may be able to repair your unit. The VTX has been replaced with a new model.

Hi Tom,
Just to reiterate Peter's message. They are a very approachable company to deal with. Am sending my old one back to them as they said they may be able to fix it.
Good luck
Duncan

Since 4qd changed hands, they are very approachable. To send something back, so to 4qd"s website, select support . There is a returns form . If you fill that in and return the item with that, they will contact you with the results. There is a service charge chart, I think a VTX is £35 to repair.

Garry that's good news about repairs. Customer service at 4QD was previously a touch hit and miss I found but it sounds like the new owner has turned this around. Apparently the main reason for these controllers failing is the demise of one of the relays on the board which only cost £5 to buy. The company used to say that it was not a DIY job to resolder though. Shame that these controllers are no longer available - I thought they were great little controllers, but that's progress I guess.

I was using Vortex 40's but I had a problem a couple of weeks back and it wasn't certain if I would get them turned around quick enough as I need the back and refitted for Sunday. So I updated for DNO-10's, the new 100 amp version of the Vortex. They are slightly smaller, the boxed version isn't vacuum formed plastic, looks more like a project box. The really big change is all the connections are outside of the controller box, so easily accessible. They work and it wasn't much effort to replace, but I did need some changes to wiring. All in all the change of owner has made a huge difference, you don't need to provide a copy of a degree in electronics to get anyone to converse with you, and you can do it by phone!!
