Armortek

Hi everybody , just ordered a motion pack for my panzer 111 , and planed to use a futaba
Tj8 , but looking on the forum , to my horror it sounds like the FHSS system is incompatible
With the armortek system , is this still the case ,and has anyone used a futaba tj8
And got it to work with the tanks

David I think the data frame lengths on the FHSS are different to FASST and as such may not be compatible with the Armortek modular system. May be ok with 4QD system. Mark will be able to clarify no doubt.

I know very little about the electronic / rc side, but I look after an Armortek Panther G (2009 ?) for a friend and that runs of a Futaba T8J with no problems. The following controls are in use:

Right joystick: motion for both tracks, forward and back (single stick control)
Left joystick: turret rotation and gun elevation (no recoil)
VR radio dial: front m/g swivel
D switch: speed control fast / slow
E switch: sound files (including front m/g LED)
G switch: front headlight

Steve Norris rebuilt this tank some years ago, so he may be able to advise, although I don't know if he did the electronics.

Chris, would you be able to post which receiver this Panther is using ?

According to a forum post, this Panther is/was fitted with 4QD electrics, not the Armortek modules.

Hi All

The Armortek speed control module, which was introduced in 2009 was designed before the new high frame rate transmission systems were introduced by the radio equipment manufacturers. The speed control module is compatible with the Futaba FASST and the older Spektrum systems.

Since that time both the EU (bless them!) and the US authorities have banned these older systems from further sales. You can still use the your existing equipment quite safely and legally.

This year Armortek introduced our new Motion Control Module, an all new one box motion control system. This unit was introduced for the SDKFZ251 and Tiger131 and all subsequent models. It is 50% more powerful and is compatible with all known existing transmission systems, old and new.

I first posted about this issue in the tech advice forum in 2012. The Futaba J series transmitters all use the FHSS transmission protocol. The Armortek speed control module was designed before that protocol was released. There is no way that I know of, to make them work together.

I'm not sure if this thread has now been done to death but, in answer to Adrian's question, the receiver is a Futaba R2008SB, 2.4 GHz, S-FHSS S-BUS HV (at least that's what's written on it !). If you want to know more about the Armortek modules I could take off the turret and the top deck, but I've only done it once and it's scary in there ....
