I have collected my refurbished Armortek Panther from Lee Sellers (
www.newthorpemodels.co.uk) and have to say from start to finish Lee has been fantastic. He has kept me in touch with progress all the way and the finished tank is superb. It now runs smooth and looks, in my opinion, brilliant. I gave Lee the black & white photo below to go by and my avatar. His interpretation is spot on and I am delighted.
Panthers in the Haguenau Forest January 1945 during Operation Nordwind
Kent's & Armorpax's upgrade MG ball mount.
Bullets holes and battle damage
Camo prior to applying the Whitewash
Masking added
Whitewash applied
Whitewash finished now the weathering is applied.
And the finished Panther

.
Lee also upgraded the electrics, fixed my suspension, got my figure working, installed Steve Winston's light and mudguards, got the sound to work as it should and also the smoker.
If your stuck for time or just having the same problems I had

then I can highly recommend Lee to sort it out. Thanks Lee for all your hard work

.

Absolutely brilliant work Lee, and that is a great choice of camo scheme Antony. The other day I was watching "Band of Brothers", an HBO Cable TV miniseries following US Army paratroopers from D-Day to the end of WWII, and one of the episodes had them fighting through Haguenau. I should have looked for your Panther!
Oh, and that's a good looking Tiger in the background too!

Hello Dale
Thanks for that. The 8 Blobs as you say were taken from a book by waldermar trojca. The skirts was from the factory in red oxide and painted in the field I tried to get it as close to the photo i saw. another photo was just a large circle of white paint.
To all
This was the hardest paint to do that i have done to date. Ive allways shyed away from white as it is hard to get right. And im glad this one came out perfect. Thank you for all of your kind comments. Now on with the next.
Lee
PS Antony if you win best panther at the Open day I get the Prize

Hi Lee
What paint and how much thinners did
you use on the white to get the slightly transparent look
on the winter white wash was it air brushed?
Also how did you do the bullet holesin the side skirts ?
Thanks
Derek

Hello Derek
The thinners i use is the same as the paint i use so to get correct thinning of the paint. The key to airbrushing is lots and lots of thin coats. Also a Good quality airbrush Mine are in the region of £250.00 each and A good Compresor and fliter regulator. I think that on Antonys Panther there was a total of 20 coats of paint and all of my work is air brushed and for the holes i use a drill 1.5mm.

Hello Derek
I use Tamiya and valejio paints and mix them up anything from 2:1 to 5:1 if that helps.

Lee,
A smart job with the airbrush, I like the reverse painting to cover the existing cammo with the white, that is a difficult technique to master and if it goes wrong a lot of work to put right!!! A credit to your effort.
