ADDING EXTRA LINK TO TRACK CHAIN

Another twist on track tensioning.
I added an extra chain link for easy hand assembly of the track and to avoid wear damage to the front side horn covers from the recommended tight initial tension.
The extra links were off the shelf and attachments were welded on for the track plates. Easy hand assembly without the chain tensioning tool! The track when tensioned up looks like most of the museum tanks with real track wear.
With future wear, the extra link may be easily removed.
Even with the adjustment bearing (EK 0318) fully back in the adjust frame (EK 0317), the attachments rub hard against the front horn cover strips (EK 0243M). Even with the idler sprocket removed the chain tightness is still a problem, because the attachments jam against the front horn cover strips.
The chain tensioning tool was bending under the strain of stretching the chain for link connections. Too much for me to handle!
Thanks for all the prior posts regarding track tensioning - very helpful.
