Detlef's Tiger 131 / s. SS-Pz.-Abt. 101 Normandy
Hi Guys,
In this area i want to publish information about my materials which i used for paint and Zimmerit of my Tiger.
Sources and descriptions are self-evident.
I'll include a lot of pictures with short comments here.
I also believe that images are welcome.
Maybe someone will recognize similarities to his work.
I also have many Information since 2008 from this forum.
I will gladly answer your questions.
Enjoy yourself.
Detlef

Hello Detlef,
What a great looking Tiger
When I was looking for a tiger to model mine on, all I found was pictures of Wittmann and Hahn. I finally found and settled on SS-Obersturmführer Helmut “BUBI” Wendorff of the 13. Panzer kompanie (Schwere) SS Panzer Regiment LAH, ZUG II, Kursk 1943.
You have done a really tidy job on the Zimmerit and the paint looks better than the original
that not a criticism.
Paul.

Hello,
thank you for your feedback.
Ok ... not quite Scale.
But in the forest I can hide my tank well.

Hello!
Cleaning, filling, priming
After assembling, all screws and unevenness must be leveled out with 2K Aluminium spatula (previously degrease not forget).
I used 2K Aluminium spatula from the hardware store.
Please, never use your finger as a sanding block, it is always caused by irregularities.
Each location has to be filled and sanded twice.
My important cleaning agent is acetone.
Before you paint areas, you have to degrease them with aceton
Primer: 1 K Etch Primer
Supplier: http://www.militaerlacke.de/
Consumption for spray painting of all parts: approximately 1200 ml
Dilution for cleaning the equipment is very important.
Other solvents like nitro, etc. do not work with 1k etch primer!
I could start painting after two hours with the 2K
(Parts have been lying in the sun).
I recommend to treat all parts made of brass and aluminum with this primer (also the small brass parts of the company Armorpax).
Parts of zinc always pre-treated with zinc cleaner before priming.
Greeting,
Detlef

Some really good tips there Detlef, I use Acetone to clean all my models before painting.
Did you seal the hull with any silicon to make it water tight?
Paul.

Hello Paul,
Thanks for your reply.
I haven't sealed it, these are the welds with Apoxie Sculpt.
Sealing off wouldn't be easy to do.
Greetings,
Detlef
Next time Zimmerit!

Re: Detlef's Tiger 131 / s. SS-Pz.-Abt. 101 Normandy
Hi Guys,
today I will show my way to manufacture Zimmerit.
The basic idea comes from Rich Stinchcomb.
I changed the way to work a little bit.
Material:
Apoxie Sculpt Total Consumption: 2,2kg (Zimmerit and welds)
Tile adhesive is very sensitive against shocks.
Also the suction behavior during painting changed the Strucktur of color significantly. To repair with apoxie sculpt is easy and durable.
4 layers of baking paper
2 straight welding wires 1.5mm
cutting knife
rolling pin

Hi Guys,
I forgot something important!
After coating, I lightly sprayed the area with osmosis water.
Otherwise Aapoxie Sculpt would adhere to the modeling knife.
The result would be bad.

Thank you for your friendly feedback.
I am very pleased.
I hope it's interesting for others.
