RODNEY'S 25 POUNDER FIELD GUN
Hi All,
Well I have finally made a start on my 25 pounder field gun.
So far it's been fun building up this great Kompact kit.
Lot's of nice wee rivets to add…."rivet rivet"…..sorry I could not resist it?
See my pics below!
Cheers Ian

Same here Ian, Baltic in Montrose !!, I still have my 1:35 scale quad, gun and limber that I built back in the day which I am very proud of as it won 2nd place in a local show !!, back to you though, looking good, very tidy builder if I may say, it seems that the quad is on its way so are you going for all 3 ? love to see that.
Regards
Bryan.

Re: RODNEY'S 25 POUNDER FIELD GUN
Hi Bryan,
Yes "Baltic" is just about right I would think!….certainly it's been windy and raining heavy this evening.
Would not like to be in the way of "Stormy Barney" tonight!
Well done in winning a second place for your 1/35th scale Quad, gun and limber models. You should get good enough details from them for the 1/6th scale Quad etc!
I have just ordered up a book called "Army Wheels in Detail Morris Commercial C8 Quad, hoping that it will give me lot's of good reference details when Mark brings out the Armortek Quad version. Hoping that it is the same one!…..(of course top secret)….know body knows right!
Yes looking forward to this Armortek kit, which I'm sure is on his next to do list, or well on it's way to be mass-produced and running off his factory assembly line soon!!!…No hurry Mark!…but first just get that money spinning 131 Tiger kits out the way!…only kidding on!!!
As for being a very tidy builder! you should see the rest of the big lounge I work in, there are lot's of Armortek stuff all over the room. Just as well I'm not married or living with someone you is too tidy and house proud, that would never do……say no more!!! hahaha….
Cheers

Re: RODNEY'S 25 POUNDER FIELD GUN
Hi Ian,
I look forward to following your 25pounder build and hopefully the detailed sketches/drawings like the ones you produced for your limber build. I spent a long while looking at the detail on your limber, which was parked next to my partially complete 25pounder at the Tankmod event. I spent a great deal of time and money researching and planning the modifications to mine, part of the pleasure of such a build, which include the detail kit from Armorpax.
All the best,
Dave

Re: RODNEY'S 25 POUNDER FIELD GUN
Hi Dave,
Well the build on my 25 pounder gun has gone along quite well so far, adding a few of Dave's (Armorpax) fine upgrades which covers most of the details at the moment.
Although I'm sure there maybe a few upgrades myself that I might have a go at making myself later on, along with a few detailed sketches!
So at the moment I just want to get on with my build, before I get bogged down, side tracked with making improvements, which happened a lot with my Limber kit, which took a while to complete?
But the sketches/drawings came about to try and understand how these parts were made or look like on the real thing!
I'm happy to know that you liked my sketches on my limber, hopefully I will create a few more for the 25 pounder gun!
Yes I saw your own fine example of your partially complete 25 pounder parked along side my limber at the Tankmod event. What colour are you going for!. I'm going for a 8th army desert colour to match my limber and eventually for the Quad too.
Yes one can spend a lot of one's time and money researching and planning on modifications, but it's all worth it I'm sure!
Anyway back to the riveting for now…..!!!!!
Cheers

Hi All,
Well I'm back with a few more upgraded details I added to my 25 pounder gun.
Although not much has been added as most of it will not been seen from above, but this time made cover plate to add to fill in the area beneath the frame support and of course added a few more rivets and 4 castellated nuts as well.
Cheers

Re: RODNEY'S 25 POUNDER FIELD GUN
Merry Christmas Eve to all,
I'm back with a few more upgrades for my 25 pounder gun. Plus a few drawings of the subject matter.
This time had a go at making a one off Platform Spade Box, which has been fun to make?
Cheers

Re: RODNEY'S 25 POUNDER FIELD GUN
…and again a few more pics.
Using a circular aluminium metal tubing and shaping both ends as seen on the pics, then building up the spaces inbetween with Epoxy glue resin metal and hardener to file down into shape, then add the hangings to lock on to the trail piece.
Cheers

Re: RODNEY'S 25 POUNDER FIELD GUN
Hi All,
Just a few more small upgraded detailed parts to add to my 25 pounder gun.
Had a go at making a oil can and it's shelf holder that sits on the side of the support plate.
But still to make some strappings to keep the oil can in place!
Wishing you all a Great New Year "HOGMANAY"
Cheers..here's to having more fun building our Armortek kits in 2016 and beyond!!!

Lovely details Ian
And I wouldn't be at all surprised if that oil can actually worked

Re: RODNEY'S 25 POUNDER FIELD GUN
Hi Adrian,
Aha so you liked the details do you……
Well when I saw a pic or two of this wee gem I just had to have a go creating my own version oil can and shelf holder.
Yes I think I could have possibly have made it a real working oil can, well maybe not!
Have a good new year
Cheers

Re: RODNEY'S 25 POUNDER FIELD GUN
Well at long last we are into 2016……hooray!
Here's my latest update on my 25 pounder gun. This time turned my attention to the Firing Platform.
Still to add a few upgrade parts, to complete it.
Cheers
