Hi everybody,
I have recently fitted recoil to my Tiger 1, which works fine with a 5v battery, but I was using, on the advice of others a battery elimination circuit (BEC). So the million dollar question, what surge voltage does it have to withstand, the current one of 1amp, shuts down the sound system when the gun is fired.

I would be most grateful for some help here

Hi William,

I presume you are using the BEC to power the recoil servo. I have several tanks with the recoil and have connected them the same way without problem.
The output from the BEC is connected with + (5v) to the servo Plus (disconnecting the original) and the - (0v) tee'd into the servo ground (negative) along with the -ve from the servo control, leaving the signal as original from servo control. I take the power into the BEC by tee'ing into the aux module +/- supply. I use 24v to 6v BEC units.

John is spot on with his description. You will need a BEC capable of 2 amps minimum, to get the best results. But, just to confuse you, there is really no need to fit a BEC. If you use the battery and connect it in parallel with the power supply module output, it will provide all the power you need for your recoil servo, and the power supply module will keep it charged up. Best to fit a switch in the battery line so that you can turn it off when the tank is not in use.

Thank you, I have now sorted the problem, good old eBay, for the princely sum of £7.95 delivered!! Problem is I do not have the Armortek power supply, the guy who first built my tank had other ideas, anyway, all should be revealed this weekend at Tankfest
