Hi Guys, I'm about to wrap up a late production tiger I from the last late release and am using the current armortek electronics. I completed the gun elevation install, but when I wire it the unit is giving me issues. First when I plugged it in the motor would be dead. I checked and rechecked the connections, all were correct. I then decided to change the subloom with another unit fresh on hand last night and the the system was working.
This morning I tried to test the unit again today and issues reemerged. The motor would first only turn one way, then would not turn at all. the system does click, but only in one direction. I again checked and rechecked the plugs and connections to no improvement. I even switched channels with the turret rotation to see if it is a radio setting, still nothing the turret rotation would work on the other channel, and the elevation would still be having the same issue as it did before.
The tank and radio are both charged, and look to have sufficient power. I'm currently charging the tank and radio to see if that was causing the issue.
I'm running out of ideas on what could be causing the malfunction, Any advice would be greatly appreciated
2025 ARMORTEK KIT SURVEY
Over the last few years we have brought out a whole series of kits as a direct result of your feedback - kits like the Pershing, JagdPanther, Hetzer, Leopard 2A4, and more recently the Sd Kfz 7, 88mm Flak 36 and the upcoming Challenger 2.
So, in keeping with what has become and annual tradition, here is your opportunity to once again influence our future production plans.
We have added in some "guide pricing" next to the names of the models. This is a rough estimate of the price at the current rates.
Thanks in advance for your input and we look forward to the results.

Re: gun elevation issue
My first thought would be to look at the limit switches and make sure they're working the right way round.

Re: gun elevation issue
Thanks adrian, That was one of the first things I checked. The bottom limit switch functions as the clicking stops when depressed, while the other still has no effect. I hooked up a spare fresh in bag aux box, when all the connections are made, the same thing,
I also tested the motor with a battery and it works too.
I'm really puzzled at this point, as this is the first time I have ran int this problem as in the past these hook ups were always a smooth install.
Also this is the same radio that I used in the A4, which had none of these issues. Perhaps I got two faulty aux boxes and sublooms???

It's more likely that something is making them poorly.
The looms should be easy enough to check out with a DVM.
Could the elevation motor be damaging the Aux modules ?
Do the Aux modules and looms work as expected if you install them in the A4 ?

Re: gun elevation issue
Even when the motor is unplugged from the loom the spare box does the same thing. this is also true with the first unit. I'm not sure of the motor could be the problem, there is nothing to the motor to cause the issue, and it ran smooth in both directions when I tested it to a battery, and when the tank was functioning last night. Is there a circuit breaker or fuse that might be tripped / burned?
As with swapping A4 parts, that model runs and works, I really don't want to crack into it and would rather leave sleeping dogs lie.

Re: gun elevation issue
John,
This is a way out guess, but is the mechanism binding up in any way? Perhaps too much friction or load once assembled for the motor to overcome? Is the elevation screw rotated easily by hand? Is it binding up once attached to the motor (motor not aligned with shaft)?
Best regards,
Bob

Re: gun elevation issue
Robert, was one of the first things I checked. The motor and system are both free of any obstruction and are true and easily spun by hand. I tested the motor via a battery and the motor works in both directions flawlessly.
Currently both sublooms and aux boxes have been shipped back to mark to have a look at. Once I have some news I will add a post, until then I have turned my attention to other detail areas of the build.
