Hi all just a quick question I have a early production tiger and when I loosen of the track to where it should be I get the sprocket rotating and not always gripping the track.

My question is has the sprocket been improved on later models or have I miss something in the setting up of the tank.

I think from testing that it slips more going forward.

is this while its raised on the bench ie no load on it ?

a few things too check below

1 how many links normal starting point was 96 on each side/how loose are the track links on the pins with a lot of use people have taken track links out

2 are the wheels aligned with your return rollers and sprockets

3 are the sprockets tight on their shafts the keyway pin can get worn away

the tracks at halt should sit when properly adjusted on or just above the second outer road wheel

as far as I know all sprockets are the same other than the centre cap

The sprocket has been through three iterations of which I'm aware.

The first one had a very simple fixing with three holes, one of which screwed to the drive shaft and the other two screwed to the sprocket.

The next one had an improved profile and fixing changed to use the taper lock bush.

The latest one I have seen also uses a taper lock bush but now comes as three pieces - a main central hub and two sprocket rings.

Having said all that, I'd be surprised if the dimensions had changed between the types.

I would also recommend checking the alignment of the road wheels and the idler.

On the very first release, there was a section on each track link which should have been round but came out of the moulds with a squared section. This needed to be filed round to allow the track to mesh correctly. Might be worth checking that this has been done, and to all of the links, as one missed link might be all it takes to force the track to ride up. Mark a link and see if it always does it at the same point on the tracks.

I will have a look at all these options tonight or the weekend. I took it out for its first test last weekend (19th April) and found I had to remove one track like from each side and I now looks like a conveyer belt its that tight. Thanks again for all your time I will post the outcome.

Hi Andy
If you remove a track link you need to adjust the idler to re set the track
tension.

outer road wheels run adjust run adjust
