I know this question comes up a lot here and there seems to be a lot of different angles people use based on the model in question and couldn't really find an answer to my specific year model. Mine is the Early Tiger 1 3rd release from 2005. Its the heavy all steel one. Steel hull, deck, turret roof and cast turret one. It also has only 5 & 4mm torsion bars. I know a lot of the newer kits use aluminum and 5/5.5 torsion bars. The manual says to set the suspension arms at 45 degrees. Newer kits Ive read say 35 and some posts here say 33 or 38. Stitches tiger build website says hes going with 30.
Also I couldn't afford the motion pack so mine will be a static model without the added weight of internal motors etc if that makes a difference.
So what angle should I set my suspension arms to for my specific model??

Chris if you do not intend to run the model by installing a motion pack with all the additional weight involved I personally would not be inclined to grind a flat on the fixed end of the torsion bar. That way you can experiment a bit with the ride height fairly easily by undoing the cap heads and rotating the suspension arms. I would start off at 40 degrees and see how the model looks. If you decide to run the model in the future you can alter the ride height to take account of the weight and then grind the flats on the torsion bars in the correct place.

Set the suspension arms as recommended By Armortek 40 degrees. I would then put weights in it to simulate the motion pack. Just take the weights out when you can afford the motion pack. If not you will have to buy another set of torsion bars later on.

My kit says 45 degrees for the arms. I will wait off on grinding the flats then. I only did one at 45, so I hope I can redo the angle on that one. I also have some torsion bars that are a bit bent. Will that matter or do I need a new straight one?

Hi Chris.

As Lee has already advised I would echo that and urge you to follow the instructions, I have had models here and sure Lee will agree where the torsion bars have not been ground and the suspension will collapse it may take a month it may take a year but your tank will sink then you will need to redo it.
