My 222 revisited

Hi all it has been just over 4 years since I worked on the 222, and as I had finished my last project (1/6th scale steam loco)and before I undertake the next lengthy build I wanted to finish the 222, I had just started making the 20mm cannon when worked stopped, I was a bit disappointed to see all my previous pictures had been deleted, but as I forgot to update my picture hosting I should not be surprised.
so just a few pictures showing where the 222 was at, and some of the gun and mount so far, apart from the mg34,(Dragon) every thing is scratch built in metal

Amazing level of detail. Will it be a static display model or RC? Great interior details. Did you find drawings of the gun assembly?

Hi John, this is a static build, no drawings for the gun assembly, just used the photos on the Toadman cd.

Some more progress on the gun pedestal, the main gun cradle supports the seats and foot pedals that fire the mg 34 and the 20mm flak, and rotates around a fixed central column.

some more progress on the gun mount, using a 1/6th figure shows that there was little room inside the turret, but helps give an indication that all the controls are in the right place, a few little jobs will finish the base then I can finish detailing the guns and sight

Hello Jeff
I'd be very interested to see pics of your 1/6 steam loco! I know it's not Armortek or a tank so pm if you wish.
Kind regards,
Simon

Stunning work. What a pity all your Sdkfz 222 photos were lost :(

Hi Jeff.
Very impressive. I hadn't realised there was 9.5" track around? Thanks for the pic and the link, a work of art.
Cheers,
Simon

Some serious great work here. The interior looks great and the gun amazing.

Hi all, back on the build again, Simone bought me a B17 bomber with a 2 metre wingspan for xmas, that's finished, so back to proper modelling.
I had most of the gun and mount made and before I finished detailing it, it needed to be able to fit the turret, and also I needed to make the grenade screens, this is the result so far
