Hi all,
I have only recently become an Armortek owner and have acquired a late Tiger 1 of the 2007 run.I suppose I should change the theme of my Tiger as I live in the frozen north ie Lake District. Guess it should be winter cammo with lots of logs.
I have been working on a few changes to the Tiger(number 213)but one of the things I cannot work out is why it turns smoothly to the left but is jerky to the right. When turning left both tracks are running but the right one is faster than the left. OK so far. When turning right I have to stop the left track to convince it I want it to turn. I am definitely not good with electrics as all my work has been and is mechanical so any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Late Tiger Steering
Welcome to the Forum Kevin
Turning puts the greatest stress on the running gear.
A couple of things to try:
1) Are the motors completely solid on their mountings ? No movement up and down or side to side. Can you run the tank with the turret and hull top removed, so that you can see the motors as the tank is turning ?
2) Are the sprockets solid on the main gears ? There may be a little movement in and out and forwards and backwards but you should be able to compare between the left and right.
3) Are the main gear casings solid on the hull sides ? That's the part with all the cap head screws round it, behind the sprocket.
4) Can you raise the Tiger up off the tracks and see if they run smoothly in both directions when there is no weight on the suspension ?
Adrian.

Hi Kevin.
Also welcome to the gang .
Quick thought are the trims correctly set on the radio? and the "jerky" could perhaps be a track tension problem ... one side may need tightening up a bit.
Lastly where about's are you? you cant be far from me really .... possibly close enough for a visit I can be at Windermere in 15 - 20 mins.
Cheers Paul.

Re: Late Tiger Steering
Hi,
I had a very similar problem some time ago. I couldn't make sense of why both speed controllers appeared to be set exactly the same but performed differently. Out of sheer desparation I swapped the 2 out of my Pz III. Problems solved. I discoveed that that the Armortek supplied ones were not adjustable like stock Vortex 40's, they had resistors instead. I emailed 4QD and asked what the difference was and how did I achive the same performance from stock one. They had worked out what the best settings for the ramps and gain were and fixed them. But the interesting thing was that the setup settings in the manual were contrary to what 4QD told me. The basically told me that the ramps should be set close to zero. I can't remember the exact setting, but if you the non modified version I'll dig up the email, but the bottom line is that folling the email instructions I could now get both version s working the same. That said, there may be something mechanical.
