Mark has been busy today putting together the first parts of the prototype Mk IV. It is so different to the tanks we have built in the past!

When the next photos are done could Mark put something alongside (ruler, tape measure, cuddly toy

) to give an idea of size?

Stand up.

Place arms outstretched at shoulder height.

Bend wrists so that hands are at 90 degrees to arms.

It's about THAT long

I'd be interested, or should that be terrified, in an ongoing rivet count

Just a silly thought, instead of rivet counter, the term should be frog or toad, take your pick?

Perhaps this could be the basis for a charity raffle, a prize to be awarded to the person who estimates the correct number, a fiver per entry?

Outstanding. I saw a 1/6 th scale side plate for a WW1 tank when an acquaintance started scratch building one several years ago so I knew what the size was. however to see it taking shape still blows the mind. I can't wait to get mine when they are ready for delivery. I am very much looking forward to seeing how you over come the track problems, especially track sag. I assume that the only way will be as with the original and have it hook over brackets on the bottom frames to stop the tracks dropping away when crossing trenches. I am modelling a male tank of A Battalion that I have researched in the archives. I await more posts as your build progresses Mark.

Mark fantastic work on the prototype. Wow all those bulkheads and internal walls. It looks like a house on wheels (er...tracks). And the holes! It's a drill bit salesman's dream come true! I don't know if I have enough patience to put all those rivets in! It will be an impressive model for sure. I'm glad Armortek has ventured into WWI. Great model choice.

First Prototype of the MK IV is now complete, after painting by
Paul Morris this will be going straight to the Tank Museum to go into
their new exhibition Warhorse to Horsepower

The static model weighs in at 78 kilos and has 1790 externally visible rivets!

Stunning and unique! Congratulations to you both, an outstanding model.

Through the mud and the blood to the green fields beyond. The Royal Tank Corps would be proud. I hope the Tank Museum makes the appropriate amount of fuss in displaying it.

Paul - first world war armour colours generate a lot of debate. Good luck with painting the masterpiece. How many jars of pigment for the mud?

It looks extremely impressive! I am pleased about the weight, because the large dimensions are going to be compensated by a lower density which will make it much more manageable in the workshop and outside!
Will there be a second prototype with a motion pack, if so what will be the speed range for the model?
