BOOKS ON THE 25-POUNDER FIELD GUN & TRACTORS

Post by Ian Rodney »

Hi All,

I received this excellent book today via Amazon.
Thought it would a good idea while we wait for the new Armortek field gun, to start making a book collection on Mark's latest creation the 25-pounder kit.

New Vanguard Osprey Publishing The 25-pounder Field Gun 1939-72.
By Chris Henry . Illustrated by Mike Fuller.
ISBN 978-1-84176-350-7.
Cost UK £8.99 free post.

First glance at this new book, has lot's of good information, although I think I would like to buy more books on this subject matter of the 25pdr and quad tractors!...to give me good ideas when the time comes.

Of course if anybody knows of other good books out there on 25pdrs, quads, limbers. I would be interested of course!

Cheers
Ian

Hi Kevin,

Ordered up a book called British 25pdr Field Gun in detail from WWP. Looks interesting from what I can make out from the coloured pics.
Anyway will let you know what it's like, comparing notes.

Thanks again for letting me know of WWP (Wings and Wheels Publications) I've not ordered up any books from them before! WWP have interesting books from what I can see.

Cheers

Hello - I just found a pamphlet book called "Morris Commercial C8 Quad" - photo manual, "Army Wheels in Detail" by Petr Brojo, No. AW 03, ISBN 978-80-903945-1-3. Published 2009, 44 pages with some nice color drawings and line drawings of the Mk I, II, II and No 5 body. There is also a downloadable Kindle Book on Amazon with nice color photos of the Quad for $2.35, and there is apparently an application that is free for kindle books on PCs so it can be downloaded.
The photos above of the 25 PDR are wonderful, thanks also for posting those!

Hi all,

just received the WWP book on the 25 pounder and its got plenty of detail in there to help with the Kompact kit build.

Cant wait for the kit to become available and make a start on it.

The Cent is progressing nicely by the way and I am making steady progress into the dark winter months.

Chat soon,

Mick

Hi Kevin, Mick, Ray, Leon & Co....

Received my copy of the British 25pdr Field Gun, In Detail, Book from WWP (Wings & Wheels Publications) today.
Superb excellent detailed photographs on the 25pdr and Limber and Morris Quad. Pics mainly on 25pdr.

Plenty of close up photographs to help those you have on order, Mark's Armortek Kompact 25pdr gun.
I would recommend this book to customising their own version of the kit.

Like you Mick and others, looking forward to receiving my own kit soon!

Thanks Kevin for tip off on this book from WWP.

Cheers

Glad you like it Ian
Sadly my copy has gone walkabout somewhere between the Czech Republic and here. I'm in dialogue with WWP and hopefully they will send another if the first one fails to materialise. Knowing that at least two of you have received books ok in the UK is a concern as mine would come the same route and then just do the short extra leg down to here. Oh well, will get there eventually!

Hi Kevin,

Sorry to hear that you have not received your copy of the 25pdr book yet from WWPBooks.
It took Czech Post and Royal Mail here 19 days to deliver my copy!
But part of the time was waiting for my bank taking a few days to clear my PayPal echeque before WWP would post it. Also WWPBooks had a Czech Rep had a long holiday weekend which would have held things up getting books posted out to us here in the UK!
So for me it was a long drawn out affair, wondering when I was ever going to receive it!

Hopefully you will receive your copy too soon!

Cheers for now
Ian

19 days is encouraging then......mine was posted on 17th October, so it's been 18 days so far.
Hope springs eternal!

......yes Kevin 19 days to Glasgow.....I'm sure yours will arrive soon in sunny Guernsey!

Better still one day and a half from Armortek, I received email from Gill this evening to say that my Kompact 25pdr kit is on it's way overnight to arrive here in 'frosty Glasgow' tomorrow.

How about that then!

When do you expect yours?

Cheers
