Hi Guys
Here are some pictures and information on work in progress. The Sdkfz 222 turret grill and the Panther IR Scope.
The Panther IR Scope photo-etched parts artwork are completed. See picture below. The IR Scope and equipment was stowed in a armored stowage bin which replaced the normal bin on the right side of the Panther. I am planning to make this to go along with the IR Scope. The problem with this is making it the correct scale thickness in metal. I believe the 6 scale metal would be about 3/32" (2 mm), cutting this to size is the problem as I do not have a shear that will cut this thick. I am currently checking on having it cut. If successful I will produce the bin.
SdKfz 222/ 250 Turret Grill.
This is a difficult part to produce due to all the angles involved to fit the eight sided turret. I am making this grill to fit the Armortek turret so it is unlikely it will fit other makes. The Armortek turret is very very close to correct scale and shape of the real one, but it is slightly off so I cannot use scaled drawing to make the grill, I have to make my own design based on the real one to match up all the angles. To do this I have made a sample of the grill which I am currently working on. To do this I am using a Armortek turret as shown below with a insert of a mock up grill to get all the angles and sides correct. Hope to have the artwork for the photo-etched parts finished this week.
The left and right side of the grill in the picture are the same, only drew up one side and flipped it to make the full grill pattern. Will draw up the correct other side once I have all part figured out.
Next task is the Tiger 2 Rear Mudguards.
Regards
Mike
