Slow build Flak36 88mm
Hi All,
I've been building my 88 for, hmm, far too long it seems. I have started a build page on my web site and I will be adding some of the photos here. All comments are welcome even the bad ones just not too many though
I though I would start off with a part I asked Steve Winston to make for me. The adjustable pads/feet for the 88 were ratcheted up and down to level the gun on uneven ground and they weren't included with the first kit release. You can see one attached to the folding leg of the cruciform.
So after persuading Steve to make me a set, here's what they look like. That is if I can get my fitters to do anything but smoke and read magazines!! Paul.

Thanks Tim, glad someone is watching .
I have added a few more parts over the last couple of nights.
I recently found the service krug to a man in a flak battery.

Re: Slow build Flak36 88mm
Hi Uwe,
Yes I found my fitters are easily motivated with good beer rations
here is what I have been up to,
fitted the safety chain. original Original I have also changed the bolts from the standard M3 to 7BA hex head with M3 thread. I think they look more to scale and the correct shape.

Re: Slow build Flak36 88mm
Hi Paul
that looks great ! It seems that a good cold beer is allways the best "motivator" for our fitters
Your dial-plate is fantastic
With the bolts I'm still struggeling to understand the "Ba" relation into metric sizes,
treads are easy but what is the dim of the head ?
I'm still on the breech section which appears to be a project in itself
Keep up the great work !
cheers,
Uwe

Paul,
Fantastic details, it will be another masterpiece for sure. I'm looking forward to seeing your camo and weathering. That's a ways down the road tho. Keep up the great work.
Best regards,
Bob

Re: Slow build Flak36 88mm
Hi Uwe,
Thanks for your comments, however, I didn't make the dial plate it's made by Tim Catton. He also made some of the other detailed part but not all, some are my own
Ba is an old British imperial measurement for nuts, bolts and treads. They range from 1Ba up to 12Ba, 12Ba being the smallest and 1Ba being the largest.
The diameter of a 7Ba hex head is 4.30mm, whereas a standard M3 hex head is 5.50mm. I chose that size because it looks more to scale and looks like the engineering bolts used on the 88. hope that helps
Hi Bob,
I am not sure but reading your post you might have me confused with Paul Morris I have to point out that I am not as talented as he is at painting, but I am far better looking
Paul .

Hi All,
I have moved onto the other side now and I am fitting one of Tim's fuse setters. The seat is also Tim's creation.

Re: Slow build Flak36 88mm
Hi Steve,
Nice to hear from you. It helps that Tim makes some superb parts to get you going, but you cannot beat making the parts yourself. Uwe is making me wish I had never sold my lathe, it would have come in handy for this build.
Here is some of my own stuff that I have added over the weekend
These are the original kit spike holders.
and this is my copy from an original photo.
