Re: my comet build some photos
Guys
I will be doing extra detail work on details that can be seen and would like to thank
Stephen for his ideas on the hull outer plates.
I would like to thank Phil for his detail build blog as it has answered some of my questions.
I have been doing some work on the front of the turret as the chin slope seemed different to the real
ones I have pictures of. This is due to the milling operation used in production.
I had the time to change this using machine and hand tools which would not be suitable producing the kit.
The real thing.
I added a block to put the material back so I had a clean starting point.
The block was glued and screwed so it was solid then I started to work it by hand.

Guys
This is the turret front after 4 hours of filing
and I am happy with it, I have to add texture and that will hide the screw ends that can be seen.
You can also see the file I used these give a great finish on Alloy,
Hope you like

Re: my comet build some photos
Derek, it's really good to see your Comet build underway. It's a grat kit with lots of character. I'm looking forward to getting back to it one day. Your turret chin mod looks really worthwhile despite the hard graft involved. You can see why they had to invent the canvas mantlet cover to keep debris from jamming the main armament elevation. All the best. Stephen

Hi Guys
Here are a few pictures of some parts I have been detailing.
First the tow hook added the clam straps and the drop down catch also re profiled the hook.

HI Guys
Then the items that have taken the longest .....the side panels.
This involved machining the panel lines the cut out for the quill covers and drilling and tapping over 254 x m2.5 holes.
And changing the cutouts for the swing arms...
Great fun
