Airbrushing

Hi,
I have primed and air brushed the base coat on my Panther. Over the weekend I tried to air brush a striped straight edge camo scheme. First go was not too bad but I think the edges that have been masked need to be a bit softer. Next I tried free hand to soften up the edges but could not get a fine spray out of my airbrush. The questions are:
What PSI should I set the compressor at?
What mixture of Acylic to thinner is recommended?
Is there an easier way of getting a soft straight edge rather than masking then free hand?
I have ordered a professional air brush that can go down to 1mm so that might help a little.
Thanks Antony
