Side Skirts

Dummy run in plastic. Just thought i would share my method as many of you will prolly be thinking about the stug side armour.

Doesn't sit right in pic due to duct tape holding bracings on to hull!..... Good ol duct tape! Also needs more shaping and rear top panel cutting.

Once i have it right I will cut 1mm aluminium plate to the size of the plastic templates.

The side bar will be 10mm x 25mm x 1mm unequal angle and i will cut between the "teeth" that hold the plates on giving 15mm teeth and 10mm bar. The supports will be a combo of 8mm x 8mm equal angle and 8mm flat bar bolted to the hull so the bottom strut sits a tad above the side foot boards.

Of course this will make it a "M" version so i will have to redesign the exhaust unless one of the many tentented memebers has already made one and is marketing it.

I agree with comments made on Mr greys thread about hiding the suspension; I'm wondering if i should go for the early mesh side armour instead!!

Hi Bob

Don't think Panzer IIIs were outfitted with the mesh screens(even later in the war). Could be wrong.

I think you will find that the skirts actually add a level of detail to these models, as opposed to hiding it. Remember, you have the option to remove some, or all at any time. :)

Hi Bob. Fully agree with Tim. The brackets themselves add lots of interest. For my panzer IV I will add the turret shurzen but will display without shurzen. I will of course make the shurzen but will run without them. Just put them on occasionaly. Nice Panzer III you have.

no rush there Steve. My tanks are long term projects. Not getting much done on them lately. Best thing was getting those drawings.
