Hi guys. If i depress the gun barrel on my late tiger it hits the jack block.It seems to be in the correct position. I have the modellers guide to the Tiger Tank which is a great aid for positioning equipment. I am thinking of sanding the corners of the mantlet. It is an aftermarket jack block. Any ideas. Cheers

Hi Peter,

Please note that the Tiger I 88 had very limited elevation / depression, +18 to -9 degrees.
And yes, the mantet corners was slightly rounded.

In Tiger I info center info the Tiger jack block is 380 m/m square in our size that is 63,33 m/m and 19,36 m/m thick. I am sorry to say that the kit one, and aftermarket one are oversize. Hope this was of any help

As you can see there is quite a lot you can remowe as the kit mantle is far to square at the corners, both at front and side.

how many people build their tanks in the kitchen. I personaly think it is better than out in the shed. Please discuss

I have built one tank in the living room a halftrack in the kitchen and another tank in the spare bed room , always to the great displeasure of my misses and lots of tutting and mumbling any thing is better than the cold drafty shed so i'm with you on this matter , so keep building in the nice warm kitchen .

I have worked on my Tanks in every room except the toilets
My Tiger started in my little log cabin outside in the garden and is now being finished
in the living room and most of the little details made in the dinning room.
RE Jack block.
Just to deffend Mike Stanards Jack block it is smack on to Ragnars measurements,I havent
measured my Armortek spare block.
I rounded my Mantlet corners and other sharp bits as in Kents photo,before the Zimerit was apkied.
The Mantlet just misses my Jack block

When i work with the tanks in the kitchen, than i have the third world war at home
I have a little Workshop in the Garden. The best is, my wife think there were mouse in the workshop so i have Rest for her. She comes to the door and knocks but she is not walked on the door sill.

Enjoyed all the replies. I use the spare bedroom.....with the door firmly closed. My Jagdpanther is relocated in the spare room. All being well, if and when the 'Comet' moves on......happiness begins......Mick

I use a spare bedroom for my parts workshop. A second spare bedroom for kit storage. A spare reception room for tank storage. Currently 3 tanks in the reception room. I think the only place completely free of tanks is the bathroom. Hoping to build a Property workshop and display area by springtime. Then no more tanks in the house.

Phil, thanks for pointing out the size of my jack block. Here is a picture of the wood block with measurements. Once you add the thickness of the corner brackets and block straps and rivets the height when mounted should be about dead on.
