Ctek Battery Chargers

Anyone here use(d) this brand ?

Having let some of the magic smoke out of my elderly Accumate 12/24  , I'm likely to be in the market for a replacement.

The C-Tek MXT 4.0 seems to be a very similar spec to the Accumate, 24V with 4A charging current.
It's about twice the current price of an Accumate, but mine has done a couple of odd things in the past.

I've managed to put the smoke back in the charger, so the decision isn't as urgent as it might have been.
I was also quite surprised to find it's based on analogue components and LM324 quad op-amps - not a uprocessor in sight.

Hello Adrian,

I have a MXT 4000 C-tek 24 volt charger.
I'm very satisfied with this charger, it is not cheap,
i paid 196 euro ( Conrad.be )
There are different programs on the charger.
regards Yves

Thanks guys - it's good to know people have been happy with these chargers :D

I'm actually thinking I may change the wiring layout and use a pair of 12V MXS 5.0 units, to charge each battery separately, as that works out cheaper than a single 24V charger

you can do that - no problem at all. You should also get a faster charge time doing that.

cheers

I've gone ahead and bought a couple of these units and am now running them in this configuration.

Interestingly, the Ctek 8 part charging process has identified that one of a pair of 22Ah batteries I use for motive power is now unable to charge fully, even though my Accumate thinks both fully charge when linked together.

The cheapest place I could find for the Ctek MXS 5.0 was from Ctek themselves, via amazon.co.uk
