Bob,

Nice one mate. I have gone with the cheap n cheeful option on the Sherman before.
cable tie track strap
cable tie track strap
If the vehicle is on a table then using a racheting strap to press down and compress the suspension will generally make enough slack to to slip the track pins though.

Going to make a turnbuckle tool like yours to take down to the woods for driving days. Thanks for sharing.

cheers Fabrice

Fabrice. Cheap n cheerful but It does the job :D Problem with a KT is the tracks are very heavy and the pins have to go through several bearings so i need the precision tighten/slacken feature of a mini turnbuckle. The turnbuckle i use is a M4 from ebay at about £2.99. Its only a couple of inches long closed

Hello Bob,

I also use 2 racheting strips on my tanks,
and this works very good.

For me the best way to do this, you let the tank a little bit touch the ground with
the tracks. Than i put the tracks together ath the front, just under the trackwheels.
best regards Yves

Hi Bob,

That is a nice tool and idea to do the job.

I used two to three G-clamps to do the work, under the idle wheel area. For Olaf's late type track a bit harder because of the double weigh.
