Hi everyone . I am about to start on my late tiger 1 and i noticed the beading at the top and boottom of the exhaust shrouds is missing. How best to simulate this or does someone make aftermarket ones with these details. Also the kit ones seem a bit too thick, this makes it a bit hard to simulate damage. regards peter

You can get some half round brass and solder on as I did or some styrene half round and glue on or as mentioned before get steves and have a nicer finished product.

Hi guys, thank you for help. I have another question ,this time about the tracks .I have done a lot of research and the kit tracks seem to have been discontinued with the mid production tiger 1. The late production (steel wheeled tiger)all had a new pattern on the treads. i did find one photo of a late tiger with a few earlier pattern mixed in . Obviously to repair damaged late tracks. Also is it possible to drill out the guide horns. Has anyone bothered as it would be a lot of work. kind regards peter

Did you not get enough links with your kit? I doubt they would be compatible.
Back to the exhaust guard. Steve's guard is thinner than the kit part so easier to simulate damage.

Perhaps the Bovington Tiger doesn't have it's original shields, they do look to have seen better days though.

There are pictures of 131 in Tunisia, still surrounded by 48RTR, and there are no discernible beads on the shields.
That's not to say that they hadn't been made by the Germans in the field.
Adrian.

Close up taken last weekend of 131 at Bovvy. They look a bit battered.
