Hi Ragnar

Your build looks great, but it is really important not to fit those washers on the gear shaft. They will end up behind the taper lock bush and prevent it from being correctly fitted. This will result in failure of the bush.

Mark

Hi Mark
The reason for me to add those washers are as follows.
# 1 Look at the picture and se how paint has come off the edges of the gearcase. In my opinion this is due to too much sideway play on the driven gear axel.
#2 When removing the gear case I spottet some circles on the hull sides , this was done by the driven gear due too much sideway movment.
# 3 To take controle of this, and this is my opinion, I added the spacers to move the sideway forces to the ballbearings instead. I am well known to the risk of jamming the whole setup, but by pulling the bolt added to the end of the driven gear I feel that I have control of a much smaller sideway play, and belive me there are still sideway movmentof the driven gear on the ballbearings.
# 4 I now feel I have control of the sideway movment and has stopped the driven gear from acting as an diskbrake when doing turn on the spot, all sideforce are now taken by the ballbearings both the inside bearing and outside bearing.

Please read this as my way of doing things, and to other fellows on this site wait for Mark`s answer befor doing anything of my work on this subject

On more thing,I now do like the new website
Regards Ragnar
