No one sells factory blanks down under so I load my own
This is were the difficultly begins whilst the length is no problem it is the wad that is giving me grief
If I use a light cupboard as a wad, it can get stuck in between the housing and the drum
If I use a lighter material I get flash over, even with using grease (maybe I need to use more grease!)
I use a triple F powder so it is very fine and fast burn
The unit itself works great and test 100% fine with shells and primer only
Any advice would be appreciated

I don't use the blank firers myself, but I vaguely recall a thread several years ago, the gist of which was NOT to use wadding type shotgun blanks at all, only the crimped type.

Mark, I hope will jump in here as it was a safety issue as the wadding could clog the holes in the pepperpot. Which would explain your flashover problem...

The problem /challenge is when you crimp them it has a small hole were the crimp plastic does not meet thus a wad is needed.
So this is were the dilemma comes from
Unless their is a different shotgun crimp which crimp the plastic so there is no gap in the centre a wad is needed to keep the powder in
If anyone could provide a link to previous thread that would be great

Hello Tim,

Yes you have to use cartriges with a crimp, do not use cartriges with a wad in.
The blanks i have from Armortek have also a very small hole in the center 0,75 mm
but the powder donth get out of the cartrige. If you use black powder jou MUST
use a little vaseline on the crimp side of all six cartriges, because black powder
is very explosif and can ignite all the blanks in one time if jou donth use vaseline.

FFF powder will fall out without a wad as it is so fine so I am wondering if they have used a very course powder
