Hi Fellas.

Its been a while but I have been busy with some projects this Panther came along and to be honest was a complete . . . well lets say it needed some T.L.C. .

I thought I had taken pictures of it when it arrived but if I did I don't have them now.The first pics show some bare metal areas where rust had set in.


Metal tanks and not even any primer not a good combination.
Anyway the complete hull was stripped down all suspension removed, torsion bars ground as the suspension had collapsed, this pic shows the suspension parts stripped cleaned and drilled and pinned, as quite a few were loose, in fact in some cases the swing arm moving on the torsion bar spindle was giving the only up and down movement of the swing arm!

In this picture you can see the excessive wear on the wheels where they had been catching each other as the spindles loosened off.

When the smoke unit was removed, it had plenty of oil in it!

This was all cleaned out the unit stripped and put back together with a brand new element as the original was trashed.


Sort some more pics of the progress later on, might be of some interest.

Hi fellas.

A few more pics of whats gone on so far. In the next picture you see inside of the hull smoker refitted and ready for suspension to start to go back in.

The paint on the hull was still in very good nick so this was cleaned and heavily scored ready to give a good key for the zimm to go on.

Tool brackets etc pressed in while the zimm is still wet as normal, now starting to look more like it I think.

Still a good way to go but this is the most interesting bit for me.

Got the red lead idea from Simon {cheers mate} my idea is that the rear of the tank has taken some type of a hit and the needed a new road wheel and idler as a result.

Started with the camo.

Thanks for your comments always appreciated, here are few more pics of the Panther with abit more war paint on.


Bit more to do yet chips and scratches etc, but should be gone by this coming weekend.

Don't worry about the zimm just have a go mate have a practice on a old biscuit tin or similar, and thank for the comments.
A couple more pictures of the nearly completed tank.

Tank will be going back to the owner this weekend.

Any spare bits and pieces can travel in the Blitz I have done for the same customer.

Nice Tiger, Panther, and....an Opel Blitz truck, which I guess is from a firm called "Metal Box", isn't it?
Quite surprised that it's not that heavy. Imagine a Sdkfz 7 semi-track in your hands---both are not enough!
