Insurance to the UK no longer available by Priority Mail

Post by Mike Stannard (toyrific) »

Hi Guys

I am no longer able to insure parcels to the UK by Priority Mail, this is a decision made by the UK Royal Mail and not the USPS Postal Service.

The only way I can insure parcels to the UK is by USPS Express Mail or UPS, Fedex or DHL. USPS Express mail is the least expensive, but is limited to $650.00 insurance per parcel.

Here are a few samples of my shipping, packaging and handling cost to the UK.

Note First Class Airmail and Priority Airmail cannot be insured. Express Mail Price includes Insurance.

1lb Parcel : First Class Airmail $13.00 : Priority Airmail $40.00 : Express Mail $46.00
2lb Parcel : First Class Airmail $20.00 : Priority Airmail $44.00 : Express Mail $53.00
3lb Parcel : First Class Airmail $27.00 : Priority Airmail $48.00 : Express Mail $56.00
4lb Parcel : First Class Airmail $34.00 : Priority Airmail $51.00 : Express Mail $61.00
5lb Parcel : First Class Airmail N/A : Priority Airmail $55.00 : Express Mail $65.00

Note: Up to a 4lb order can be shipped by Priority Flat Rate Box for $20.00 without insurance provided the parts will fit into the box.

Express Mail Insurance
Up to $100.00 No charge. $101 to $200 = $0.85, $201 to $400 = $2.35, $401 to $650 - $3.85

General Insurance rest of the world.
Up to $50 = $2.50, $100 = $3.60, $200 = $4.75, $300 = $5.90, $400 = $7.05, $500 = $8.20, $600 = $9.35, $650 = $10.50.

Sample cost of a 4lb parcel valued at $400.00
Priority Mail : Postage $51.00 Insurance $7.05 . Total $58.05 (Not available to UK)
Express Mail: Postage $61.00 Insurance $2.35. Total $63.35
EMS only costs an extra $5.30 and gives a faster and more secure delivery.

Each individual order cost will depend on weight and value, in the future all invoice for the UK will have EMS shipping cost options. Orders of more than $650.00 that require full insurance coverage will need to be shipped by EMS in multiple parcels or by UPS, Fedex or DHL in a single parcel. However, in most cases these carriers will cost more than USPS EMS by multiple parcels.

Regards
Mike
