PANZER IV TURRET SHURTZEN HELP

Hi to all
i am trying to do the turret shurtzen and have fitted the rear plates on trying to do the brackets to fix them to the turret (the brackets just behind the doors ) i found that the doors wont go past the bracket ,so they wont open flat to the turret side,s anymore is this how they were on the real tank can any body help me out ,i have looked at the books i,ve got but no luck . Everything looks ok the right height and so on ,so i am a bit stumped as to what to do .

I was looking at the photos of Tim's panzer IV. His do not appear to open flat against the turret either.

thanks it could be, the way they were on the original with a bit of trial and error it can be done with extra packers and trying them at a differant angle but it just dont look right,will have to have a think. i am still looking for a picture of them in use,that would sort it one way or another.

Hi Nick
Sorry for not answering your post earlier I have had lots of homework to do for college so have not been on the forum as much as I would have liked.
I have spent some time for you going through my reference books and yes you are ok with the turret doors they do not open fully but only as far as the turret shurtzen supports.
If you get the callipers on the plans this will confirm it for you mate.
The build is coming on fantastic Nick well done

I made some little tools that are a real help for our model building I just have to get in to the machine shop within the next two three weeks to finish them off.

Hello Steve
thanks for the info on the doors i can get cracking on them now they are quit a pain to sort out on the turret because of all the different angles but with the help of your plans i am confident i will sort it out those plans have been of great help .
this parcel sounds intreging looking forward to seeing what its about :D
