Armortek

Hi All,
Just thought that you T34 boys might be interested in this photo. We found this photo, taken by my wife’s aunt , a professional photographer, in Lebanon, at the time of the 1982 Israeli war. It is of a T34/85 of the Syrian army. On the back of the photo, is written:
Photographer: Jill Brown.
Location: Lebanon.
Caption: Tank abandoned in basement of building at Damour.
Date: June 1982.
Perhaps an alternative to all the Russian versions?

I have some other photos from the same time, but they are of Israeli M60 and m113 personnel carrier, but no more of the T34 in afraid, sorry.

I must say this is a great photo too!

I do not know much about the russian armor, but I am impressed by the design of the T-34 more and more. The fold down rear plate must have made maintanence comparatively easy relative to many other tanks. Maitanence crews must have loved it.

With a photo like this the bare bones are visible, its not knocked out but buggered all the same, all be it repairable.
These vehicles were crude but did the job, you can almost smell the oil the grease the diesel soot, It would be fasinating to know more about this tank and its fate.
Please keep this kind of reference material coming guys (old and new) we love it .
It would be great to see some Armortek examples modelled in this way but as they are so cherished as runners few exist, I still have that old Tiger1 hard target which is weathering nicely and intend to bring it along to the next open day

This is kinda relavant but sad as the crew are still in there, this ones got a gearbox also note the suspension unit springs
