The Tannoy speaker units supplied with this model, seem to be hefty quality pieces of kit, but what methods do you guys use, to mount your speakers in the Panther hull?

Cheers!

Hi Darryl.

You are quite right the Tannoy speakers are a great bit of kit, all the ones that have been fitted here we used the provided bracket and fastened it to the tank using cap head screws into a tapped hole, in some cases I put them onto the rear plate as it all depends how you set out your modules some of the models are a tight fit to get everything in. Lastly I use some of the foam packing that the speakers are packed in, if you cut it down I think it makes a handy little cushion that just sits under the speakers front to help support it if your tank goes over an obstacle a little "heavier" than you intend it to.

Hope this helps.
Cheers Paul

Like Paul, I used the provided mountings on my Pz III but I found they were too soft and flexible. Although you could use packing quite successfully, you might also consider making a mounting pad by casting some RTV silicone. I get mine from:

http://www.mbfg.co.uk/silicone/1312.html

Just fit the speaker using the supplied mount, build a box around the top end using plastic or card and fill with RTV. It moulds itself around the speaker and gives you a permanent cusion. I think I put some photos in my thread but you'd have to search.

Hope this helps.

Stephen
