T 34 Machine Guns and Tanker Headgear

Post by Brown Hawkins »

Found some loose gear for the T 34s; the DT machine guns and tanker head gear:

I have a few drawings of the optics that fit in the brackets on top of the machine gun. The barrel is not correct, but that is an easy fix. Also need to remove the bipod legs for a single vertical post.
These pieces are cheap so I got them ahead of the tank.
Here are links to the site:

This site is cheaper than Ebay. Working on some plans for a few other pieces.

Here are some pics of the real thing:

The front sight is a simple pin sight with a padded telescopic eyepiece at the rear. Looks like a good detail parts project for Tim B.!

I'm looking to add a muzzle flash effect to the T-34 and wonder whether the DT machine gun used in the bow position ever had the flame suppressor on the end of the barrel :?:

From what photos I've been able to find, the end of the gun always looks to be either a plain tube or have a small band around the end, rather then the pronounced conical end.

Adrian.

Hey Adrian,
The easiest solution is probably cut the barrel off at the support bracket and replace with a piece of copper tubing or appropriately milled rod. I can't believe how long it's been since I posted in this thread.
