Hi Guys

I have been a little under the weather for the last week or so, some bug of sorts. This has keep me from spending as much time as I would like at the shop. The benefit is that I have been able to do a lot of work at home that I need to complete. Hence I am able to offer two new parts for the Tiger 1. Unfortunately this has slowed down my ability to work on orders and I apologies for delays on pending shipments.

I was commissioned by a customer some time ago to produce a early type Tiger 1 Stowage Bin, which I thought on the outset was going to be fairly easy. Well it has turned out to be not as simple as I first thought. This bin has some unique designs in that it has cut away's on the sides to clear the pistol port and escape hatch. When making some templates for the bin I found that it did not look right, after some research I found that the pistol port hole in the turret was in the wrong place, see following pictures. I also found that the pistol port sent with the turret was to small. The only way to get the bin looking like the real one was to move the pistol port and make one the correct size. Hence I am making a fully functional pistol port for the customer and also decided to make the later pistol port plug that replaced it.

However I will only put these two parts into production if there is enough interest in them, really need about 10 orders to make it happen. Following is some details about the turret and bin, plus how the pistol port is important to be in the correct position to make the bin.

Modifications needed to fit the correct size pistol port into the turret in the correct position.

The pistol port was used until July 1943 when it was replaced by the pistol port plug.

The pistol port plug was used until October 1943 when it was deleted and the hole was filled and a round plate welded over the hole. All new turrets from then on came without the hole I believe.

The pistol port plug was smaller than the hole for the pistol port and a insert was used to reduce the size of the hole. See picture of the real plug.

Here are the proposed parts I intend to offer subject to interest

TT46B Pistol Port Basic external detail. $30.00
TT46D Pistol Port Deluxe external and internal working detail. $95.00

The 1:6 scale pistol port is just under 2.1/2" (63 mm) in diameter), the hole required to fit the deluxe set is just under 1.1/2" (38 mm) will know exact size once cast. The basic set can be fitted over the existing hole.

TT47B Pistol Port Plug Basic external closed detail $10.00
TT47D Pistol Port Plug Deluxe external detail open and closed $60.00

The pistol port plug will fit directly into the existing hole, but will not be in the correct position, just the external detail cover can be fitted in the correct place and the existing hole filled. To use the full detail plug you will have to fill the existing hole and drill a new one.

Scaled drawings (modified) from Germany's Tiger Tanks D. W. to Tiger 1: by Jentz and Doyle. A must have it you are modeling a Tiger 1.

Please note these are not in production and I am not taking orders for them. All I need to know is if you are interested. If I get enough I will put them into production.

Regards
Mike
