CALLING ALL BUILDERS!

Post by Tim Bowman »

Where is everyone and what are we currently working on?

I know there is a handful of excellent builds happening on the forum but it would be nice to get more, new models and builders posting as well. T34 owners? (I know they are not delivered yet but would be neat to know we'll be seeing them on the forum). Bergepanther owners? (these would be an interesting build to follow) Jagdpanther owners? (need some more of this mean looking jagdpanzer).

As for me, most already know what I have in line for building in the next few years or more and for now I am focusing on finishing my Panzer IV and Tiger I this summer. After that? Perhaps the Stug III conversion or Tiger II as well as a Jagdpanzer IV.

Here's a photo I took a few weeks ago of the collection and there is a possible Sherman in my future as well if I can just scrap up the funds for it. :? I am very much looking forward to the King Tiger!!!

Image

These projects as well as parts and ammo is what I am up to.

So, who's out there and what are you working on? There is a whole lot of Armortek models out there...please share your work here on the forum so the rest of us can enjoy them too.

Happy tanking
Tim

Hi Tim,
Going to Belgrade next month where I intend to get some photos of

StuG III Ausf F/8
Panzer I Ausf D
Panzer II Ausf F
Panzer IV Ausf G
Type A - a Yugoslav tank based on the Soviet T-34/85

and hopefully many more. (Kalemegdon Fortress Belgrade) Anybody want something in particular photographed please let me know. I will do my best. I believe you can get really close to the exhibits there.

Must get back to the Tiger 1 build now. Had a break in Warsaw and now looking forward to getting back to work on the Tiger.

Tim, that Panzer IV is tempting me to go for the new release model. Looks great with the shurtzen detail added. But I want a King Tiger also.

Yves, I have ordered parts for animatronics and will post on my progress with them. I will be interested to see how you get on with the electronics as this will be something new for me also.

Hi Tim
I'm still working on my Comet the weathering and the interior
which I might limit to the turret area, and I've put my deposit
down on the T34/85,so I will deffinately be posting my build on that one.
Possibly looking at other conflicts but the late Russian offensive
being the obviouse interest.

Not actually been building much Armortek stuff at the moment, but I did have a delivery of cut parts today.

First out of the bag are some trial lids and bases for the old style smoker unit:

Image

The idea with the extended base is that I will fit a length of terminal block into which the element will be wired directly. If the element should fail - I've not had one die yet - it will be simple to replace, without disturbing the rest of the wiring. The extended length of the base should also protect the element cabling where it exits the block.

Next up are the parts for my new Panzer III recoil system:

Haven't tried fitting these yet, so hopefully they'll go together ok

I took the associated muzzle flash system to SWMEE for its first outing and, even given it's dubious presentation in a plastic tote box, it seems to have been well received. One forum member has volunteered to be the guinea pig - I just hope it can survive his style of model management

Last out of the packing are some 2mm aluminium floor panels for the Panzer III.

These are then bent to the appropriate shape with my somewhat Heath-Robinson contraption - bought on eBay of course:

And once correctly formed, these just drop into place on the hull components:

As you proberbly already know, i am building a Early Ausf G Panther which is making slow progress at the moment due to other commitments (New Bathroom) But hopefully production will soon be back up to 100%.

Next on my wish list is a Tiger 2

Nick, I would love to see some build pics of the 250 (As its a scratch build i am sure Mark and Jill wont mind)

Steve,
Glad to hear I'm not the only one cursed with the dreaded bathroom remodel! I've been wondering how your Panther was coming along.

Nice looking parts Adrian, looks like waterjet cut I presume!

I've still got my Panther and Sherman I am puttering with...

My situation.
Tiger 1 built. Needs all the painting work and some revision of the electronics and the sound module and smoke, but it's actually full operative. Maybe needs radio to be shifted to 2,4ghz

Jagdpanther. Same situation as the Tiger. Already has sound, misses smoke. Fully working.

Flak : actually in early stages of building, working on the bogies.

222 : building. Reached a good stage, chassis nearly ready for first tour... thereafter will complete the upper structure

T-34 ordered

Panzer IV : really thinking to order it (just would like to have some more info about the universal hull)

Hi Tim,

Greetings from Bonnie Scotland.

Currently building my Panzer III Ausf L
Have ordered up a T-34/85 kit from Armortek.
Tempted to splash out on a Panzer IV, but like Jan in Italy, waiting to see more info on the universal hull!

Other unfinished kits I bought over the years from Armortek.
Mid Tiger 1 from (second batch) 5 years ago, build almost completed, I still have to do all the wiring, buy batteries to get this monster moving outdoors some day!

Panther G still in it's boxes, but keep collecting buying upgrades from Mike in Las Vegas. One day I will make a start on building this excellent kit. But enjoying following all the other members Panther builds out there.

222 build half finished, but put aside for a rainy day!

Last kit I bought from Armortek was the Panzer III, I've completed three quarters build, working on the turret area, following all the great pics and info from fellow panzer three builders.
Hoping to get this wee beautie moving outdoors soon! well that's not true, as I keep getting caught up with all the fine detail upgrades on this super kit.

I must have a go at sending, posting images of my efforts, on builds to show others on the forum!

Meanwhile all you builders of these excellent kits, keep your own posts coming, I enjoy like I'm sure other members do, following the fantastic progress.

Cheers
Ian
