Am I being dense or is this not as easy to set up as Thomas's manual would appear to show
Does each muzzle flash output only operate when you configure the TBS5 and encoder such that the first and second sounds are the main gun and machine gun ?
This seems really counter-intuitive as the first things it seems to want to set up are the start/stop and revving sounds, before it gets to the guns.
I have now managed to get the two outputs to operate as I would like but I really think it was more by luck than judgement
and I'm pretty certain I couldn't do it again straight away

Hello Adrian,
I just configured my TBS 5 together with the Encoder this weekend. I managed to built the Encoder in my Futaba 7 with hardly any problems(building link on the forum) I used to manage the sound through one of the proportional channels but this new setup works perfectly and to be honest...it's quite easy to perform.
The setup should however be easy to obtain with the standard TBS 5 (without encoder) If anyone has problems getting this done I'll be happy to assist.
The order in which the sounds can be played is a matter of loading them but I can imagine now that this is harder to do without the encoder.

Hi Adrian
The 2 muzzle flash outputs from the board are assigned to the main gun amd machine gun sounds irrespective of where you program them in the encoder. You should be able to have engine start and idle up as your first to sounds without have the muzzle flash going off.

That's what I thought it should be, otherwise how would you know when the main gun sound was going to be the next one to store ?
It just didn't seem to wotk until I had the main gun and m/c gun as sounds 1 & 2.
I'll break it all down again tonight and try again from scratch. After this, the recoil will be a doddle !

I haven't tried reconfiguring the TBS5 yet - let sleeping dogs lie and all that - but I have managed to get the prototype Sherman recoil system linked to the main gun output.
Purists may note that the Sherman is miming to the sound of a Tiger's 88mm main gun - I couldn't face swapping the sound cards over again
Depending upon the length of the "Honey do" list, I hope to get the Panzer III trialled with this system as well, though I'll need to make a different adaptor for the end of the barrel.
