Just doing some clean up work on a part on my C3 mini-lathe and the tool jammed. Cleared the tool from the work piece and tried to restart the lathe and it just sat there whirring away, without moving the chuck.

Turns out I made a jigsaw puzzle from the drive pulley:



Luckily they're only a couple of quid but I'm stuck without the lathe till the part turns up

Thats the trouble with plastic gears. They are prone, and possibly designed to fail. I hope you get back in action fast. It may be worth investigating if metal replacements are available.

I do wonder whether this is a design feature to prevent too much torque being put through the system in the event of a jam. It's not that easy to get to but cheap to replace so I think I'll just remember to take it easier in future

And keep a stock as spares
