I've seen simular installation from Modelworks during the early 00's (hummm does'nt sound quite right) With this type of gearbox a spin turn is the only option and it was fast, too fast.
Considering it was originally designed for a 13cc 4 stroke aero motor, the 50cc motor is slightly over the top, which generally tried to destroy most of the drive components.
Yes it smoked, sounded like a lawn mower and gear change is some what crunchy. so as long as you have plenty of time, money and spares it was ok.
I converted mine to electric, stuck in a Tamiya full option pack and looked after it till it was sold.

I agree. this type of drive looks fantastic but the hours of machining/fabrication and r/d for a unit bent on self destruction is so counterproductive.I am familiar with the Modelworks attempt but it just don't work at this scale.....long live the esc

I was going to add, and it's difficult to down peoples hopes and dreams but this type of model is destined to the shelf or stored below the bench under a sheet. Unless it's as big as Killalot.

Long live ESC and electronic sound modules. Good clean fun.

Some would say I'm chicken but I don't like takeing my models home in a bag, hence I don't fly either.
