Hello everyone,
I drove my sherman back into the work shop,to put the sound unit in.I was using a 4ch, fm radio.I wanted to use my Airtronics,6ch radio.I made the receiver able to take standard rc plus.After 3 trys at the bench test,all I had was this: left stick cont. left track,But in rev. The right stick cont. the right track, But side to side movement only.No sound at all.
So I changed to a diffent radio. Spektrum DX6i 6ch,10 model memory.
Sound works only when I turn on the power.The main motors turn slow.
But I have no control over them.
With both I made sure r/c batteries were full charged.
Any ideas to what I can do?

If you put it back as it was, does it all start working again ?

If not, you've disturbed something in the wiring.

Hi Everyone,
Today I took up an air radio and a new 2.4Gz radio and nothing worked.
So I took up the old radio,4 ch . And that worked,the sound is on ch 4.Both
eng. and machine guns sounds I'm getting.Ch 2 &3 are the tracks and ch 1 is the turret rot.
For now this is only a bench test.And I don't understand why the other radios don't work.

I am not that much into 2,4 Ghz stuff, but have you linked the receiver to your transmitter ?
For the soundunit to work on another radioset you have to re-initiate the unit. Switch on the transmitter, receiver and sound unit, make sure that all joysticks and trims are in neutral position. Press the program button, all available sounds will be played in sequence. Switch off sound unit amd receiver. Switch them on again and the sound unit should work.

The Sherman uses the old sound system.And there's only 1 switch to turn on, the power.There's no programing with the old systems.
As for doing something with the receiver,{2.4Ghz} no I have not tried that yet.I tried 4 other radios 3 were digital.and the other was an old FM with a turn switch for ch 6.But I don't know if I have match up the trans with the rec.It uses 72.630 f, and ch 42,rec.On the back of trans on a sticker 50 over 72.790 f. and the cry is 72.630f.I don't know if this matters.
Radios are too confusing to me.

With Transmitters that are not 2.4Ghz both transmitter and reciever must have the same codes(Crystals) TX 40.960 for transmittter and RX 40.960 reciever.
If they are not matched they will not work.

Hi Dan and Lee,

The most important info on the crystals is the channel number. So a channel 50 TX requires a channel 50 RX.
On older radiosets the frequency info is less important and sometimes even misleading. There can be a difference of 455 Hz between TX and RX crystals, and when second or third harmonics are used the difference can be 50% or 66% of the official frequency.
But forget about this, just check the channel number and the brand of the crystals.
