Hi Dale,

I post some pictures in juli of my tiger 1 build,
its gonna be a early tiger, i have orderd parts from Mike Stannard,
Steve Winstone and Steel Dragons that i have to work on.

For the moment i'am testing the paint texture for the tank, foto's will be posted soon.
It will take some time before the tanks gonna drive, because i have some questions about the electrical wiring stuf, lights, blankfire, animatronic figures.

Best regards Yves

Hi Dale,
I have #21 and will be starting my build over the winter months. I do Napoleonic re-enactments during the spring - autumn months, so at the end of the re-enactment season I'll be devoting time to my Tiger. I'll be posting my progress ups & downs on the Forum.

I've already bought a hydraulic table and fitted a large wooden work surface. I couldn't resist checking out how the kit bolts together, so I've bolted the hull and rear deck plate together, but I'll be taking these apart so that I can file & fit these to make sure all the joints are nice a tight then priming all the parts before re-fitting them.

I'm planning on leaving the Tiger in primer, until I've sorted out the engine and transmission. I'd love (budget allowing) to fit a working miniature V8 engine, which I know others have either done or are planning to do. So I'll be looking to pick the brains of my fellow tankers.

Steven,

Have you seen these IC engines?

In my less sane or adult moments I dream of installing one of these in a Tiger.

Hi Brian,
Yep I've seen these, and from the dimensions given the engine should fit inside a Tiger, obviously without the supercharger.

I also found the following sites for another V8 engine + free design drawings for various tank gearboxes;

I'd be grateful for any info on available petrol engines and gearboxes, especially if you've already fitted these in your tank.

Steven I am not sure anyone has fitted an IC engine to there Armortek tank.

I have seen video of another 1/6 scale tank with a 2 stroke engine fitted, but the tank sounds like an armored lawn mower ;)

The biggest challenge is going to be the transmission/gearbox/brakes.

I think Mark looked at this years ago but there was to many issues with using a IC motor

I do think a V8 engine would sound pretty good in the Tiger though.

Good luck and look forward to seeing how you proceed.

Regards

David

Hi Guys,

I was thinking that if one were to have a DC generator driven by an IC engine, and using the DC power from the generator to drive the two electric motors on the Tiger would be pretty realistic.

One would have to rev up to get a higher voltage, driving the tnk faster like the real thing. The sound and exhaust are pretty good.

Just a thought.
