New topic but very old Tiger!

Post by Steven Ford »

After almost seven (or is it eight?) years dawdling and delaying I am making some serious headway on one of the very first Tiger 1 kits to appear from the original firm. I have looked through a lot of the fora topics but cannot find the answer to this:

Months after receiving the original kit, a large piece of steel arrived in the post without explanation. I have risked an assumption that this is an early rear deck support - it is only 2mm too wide to fit in! It is just a plain rectangle of steel, folded 1.8cm from the top at a right angle and with two small cut outs to match the panniers - it is not in any way shaped like all of the deck supports I can see in the photos of other Tiger interiors. The holes along the top edge correspond with the engine cover front edge bolts.

Should the L shape be mounted such that the 1.8cm section points forward or aft?

On this picture of the Late Tiger:

Mark has the forward support with the angle facing forwards and rearwards on the rear support.

I believe the idea is that the main part of the support is as close as possible to the turret aperture.

Adrian.

Thanks.

I see that there are two supports on this photo - I'll have to hope that one is enough.

Hello Steve

You should have two supports on the very early Tigers
front and Rear.

My first generation Tiger never came with hull roof supports. It didn't matter since Vince had some nice ones made up years ago. The rear support was a simple aluminum bar positioned behind the turret bearing.

And yes, I'm still working on my Tiger...
