Just setting up the elevation gear on my tank and question the weight imposed on the bracket and in particular the shaft of the elevation motor.Has anyone set up a counter balance to compensate for this weight or is it unnessesary.
Andy.

Hi Andy
I am going to use a counterbalance weight as I am not having
the blank fireing unt on my Panther. Mark gave me a weight value
of abour 3.5 kg which is what the blank unit weighs...

Andy,
I think you will find that the elevation motor will have little problem coping with the barrel weight. Just make sure that you firmly tighten the grub screw that holds the thread onto the motor shaft, as mine has pulled out on two occasions. A counterweight is a good idea but I've found that the standard turret turning motor supplied with the early Tiger kits is a little marginal on power, so I made every attempt to keep the turret as light as possible.

Gentlemen
Alan is correct on all counts. The elevation motor is more than capable of handling the weight. Having said that a balance weight will reduce the load. We also felt that the turret turn motor was a bit underpowered and have specified a new motor for the late tigers. More details of this and other major improvements to the option packs will follow soon.

Hi Mark
Will the new turret turn motor fit the existing motor mount? I f not, will you be offering it as an upgrade to existing Tiger owners?
Mine worked fine originally, but with the addition of the blank firer, zimmeritte, and all the extras it seems to be underpoweCheers
Cheers

Hi Mick
The new motor uses a new mounting bracket and this fits the all earlier model production. We will be offering an upgrade option.

On my early Tiger I chose to replace the electronic switchng unit with an Electronise ESC however the turret turn speed is not that proportional as the motor needs to have full power/speed before the turret starts to turn. A more powerful motor would get better speed control.
Having said this I am not sure if the actual tank had proportional turret turn speed.

HI MARK - Keep me posted on the new motor - it's for a early version.
I hope the new turret turn motor will fit the existing motor mount, if not please upgrade the mount for a early version too.
Thanks
