To set the fail safe on the Futaba 6EXA transmitter enter programming mode by pressing the two buttons to the left of the screen and holding for 3 seconds. Press the mode key until the fail safe (F/S) screen appears. Push the data input lever (to the right of the screen) down and the percentage fail safe appears. Set the right hand stick to neutral and press the data input lever down again. The fail safe will now be set to about 50%. Press the mode button to exit and turn off the transmitter.

On the 7C you can disable the fail safe function. This means that the output signal will not change in the event of a loss of signal and stays in the mid or neutral position. Press the mode button for 1 second and rotate the dial to Fail Safe and press to select. Rotate the dial to select NOR and press. Press end twice to return to normal mode.

The Futaba 7C is probably the most popular radio for use with Armortek tanks, especially as Armortek can usually supply it as well, but there was a posting on here recently about that particular model being out of stock throughout the UK.

The main reason for setting the fail safe is to save embarrassment when your Tank runs into someone else's. Having it happen to yourself means that when you suffer the attack from another's Tank you are so happy that it happens to other people that you immediately forgive every thing instantly, which is a huge relief as you then understand other people forgive you too! So sorting out the fail safe is really important, and so to is developing a routine to make sure that the Tank is turned off first before the transmitter.
The significance of this ramble, is that it gives me an opportunity to apologise to all who I have inadvertently collided with.
