Rocky's Tiger

As Gill will confirm, I have had a few Monty Python moments while trying to accquire, receive and set up the Tiger and the Tiger Room.
First there was the wiring problem (money.) I have three bank accounts, two personal and one business. The first bank I called asked me 'what is a pound? The second told me that they do not weigh money.
The third asked if I wanted to wire in Euros or Pounds. The third time was the charm although they screwed it up and I finally went to the bank and sorted it out.
The second problem is with my contractor who was supposed to knock out a wall, install a very wide door and lay down a rubber floor. He has yet to show up.
The third problem is that my lift arrived damaged!
The last problem? UPS arrived with only three boxes instead of four. They told me that the last box had been overlooked while loading. How do you overlook the box that has the hull in it? It's only twice or three times the size of the other boxes
And now for something completely different a man with 3 Aromtek Boxes.
Ahh a few Mike's parts too....
And lastly, my favorite....
The big box will arrive tomorrow and I will finally know my number!
To the Armortek Team, you have far exceeded my expectations and I am happy beyond words!
Now I am off for a scotch.....Cheers!
Rocky
PS, Stay tuned, next week I will show off the tools

Hi Rocky
The best part/box still to come, on Mike`s bin I only used epoxy glue and on the mudflaps. Are you waiting for the feifel system ?

Ragnar,
I ordered the feifels before I had confirmation of my Tiger!

I am now a man with four boxes and a serial number!
This thing is a beast to say the least. I am still in shock regarding the size of the Tiger. It also gives me great appreciation for the enormus task the Armortek has accomplished.

How many times has my Mother told me, things happen for a reason?
I have always disliked that saying but maybe she is correct.
In one of my previous posts I menetioned the troubles I have had getting the Tiger room ready. Well, as it turns out, we may be moving so I am happy that I did not rip out the workout room. I have moved the equipment to one side so I will be building the Tiger on the other side. It is a bit cramped but it is a good problem to have. I still have to find room for the lathe and put away the Armortek packs in their bins but work will start in earnest on the Tiger tomorrow morning.
I did manage to bolt the top on my lift and cover the top with rubber. It is not pretty but it works. As we say in Texas...putting lipstick on a pig!
The grinder is in position and the drill press will be in position in the morning.
My goal is to have a first fitting of the hull done tomorrow by scotch time!
Cheers,
Rocky

Well I accomplished my goal and more! And yes, by scotch time no less.
This being my first Armortek build I was expecting to use many foul words and experience frustration. I was pleaslanty surprised to find that I only had two minor problems and one of them does not not matter at all.
Here are the pics.
Following instructions....the suspension bar and the bushings
Then we use the file...rounded of course
The mallet comes into play....NICE!
This looks good......
Expanded view with the C-Free DP!
It's BIG!
And getting wider....
Nice backside or butt as we Yanks say...
Yes, I am excited! This kit is the cats pajamas.....
To say that I had fun today would be an understatement!
I vill need mor Tigers!

I am really impressed with the casting quality of the grates. Unfortunately I will have to do a lot of filing to get them correct.
This will be a bit more challenging.......
I am having fun!

I spent some quality time with the Tiger today. I decided to countersink the floor and have smooth bottom. The screws are not fully tightned but you get the idea.
Then I started work on the suspension and test fitting the wheels.
I still cannot believe how big this tank is!
I really like the torsion bar setup. Looking back at the earlier tanks this appears to be a much better suspension system.
Tomorrow I will take everything apart, clean, start the bondo (car filler) treatment and prime whatever I can.
Thanks for looking in!

Hi Rocky your build is looking very good .. Rocky because my tiger is packed away and you are pushing ahead , can you see if the second road wheel in the photo above if you can add hex head bolts to the hub cap as this is how the real tiger had them .. you are correct with the first outer wheel as they where studs and nuts ... Dale,
Thanks for letting me know. Yes, M2.5 - 25 will work. I used the supplied pozi-pans and flipped one around and then I checked it with a brass M2.5 hex head, perfect. Now please tell me where we can find M2.5-25 hex heads? You will need 50 at a minimum.

Thanks to Dale all of the assorted fasteners (400) are on their way and should arrive Wednesday. My option packs should arrive Friday, Yeah and thanks Gill!
The timing could not be better. We have a three day holiday coming up at the end of next week, which means a four day holiday, so I will be able to make some big progress. I have delayed final hull tightening until the motors arrive. So I will be focusing on the suspension and running gear.
I did get a chance to spray a coat primer on the hull today. A small step but a fun one.
Welcome to the tropic of panzer!
Once I am comfortable with the suspension and the running gear, I will putty the countersunk cap heads, prime and paint the red oxide.
I am also working on getting the gussets thanks to Mike and Tim.
Have a great week.
